Travel Photography: Covering his injury

Many elements go to make the character of a particular destination or location, whether a distant exotic city or his hometown. It is the work of travel photographer to cover these elements in order to present the character to the viewer. This article examines what happens as the character from one topic to the audience.

Essentials

There are many separate "parts" that make a place what it is, but in general, boiling until landscape, people and culture. Let's look at these in a little more depth.

Landscape

Every town, mountain or coastal zone has a unique appearance and feel. This can be created by the unique architecture that part of the world, such as Gaudi's designs, which are so important in Barcelona. Or famous monuments (Tower Eiffel anyone?) Mar or raw and cliffs as so characteristic of the northern coasts of Scotland and Ireland. What does it look like in the morning? At night? The location can take on several personalities during the day so it is essential to try to capture as many of these that can give a broader view.

People

Possibly the most influential factor in the character of a place is the people who live there. The way you look and dress, how they wear, the style life to live and the customs they observe. Is there a particular piece of clothing that defines them? Or maybe a particular characteristic. For example, if you know that are happy people and smiling, are shown as such. If workers are known, try to include some photos of the workers.

Culture

This may include items such as food and beverages. Local dishes give immediate insight into the lifestyle lived by the people of that area. freshly caught seafood can be a specialty of the area, or you can be famous for a special dessert or a drink. The culture can also be shown at festivals and events held in the region in particular. This could be an annual parade where the locals dress in traditional costumes of their ancestors, or a huge street party that captures the energy and vitality of a population.

Putting together

To put these elements in photographic terms, I like to think of the process and the zoom on a topic. Starting with the element of landscape described above, which in essence are general information, and wide viewing angle of the subject, capturing the surroundings. individual buildings and monuments give a feeling and recognition sometimes the location instantly. Zoom to form a collective portrait of the people, their lifestyle and daily activities. This is a good idea to use the portraits and posed shots in which characters appear as well as customs and way of life. Finally, the zoom to capture more detail, such as food and local dishes and detailed studies buildings. Text, as in the workshop shows signs languages spoken. Also products that are traditional or well known in the area. For example, leather goods Morocco, or Japan's electronics.

Travel photography is a specialization in a broad sense. Possibly not a specialist at all. A travel photographer has to be a landscape photographer, portrait photographer, still life photographer and nature photographer often all in the space of a single shooting session. Learn to cover all these elements into the broader issue and is well on its way to becoming a more accomplished photographer.
