Coolest Billboards Ever

These billboards by Ian Hart for Ford are sick. Great concept and by far the most original idea I’ve seen in a long time.

Wordpress Woes

Update!

I reinstalled Wordpress (and upgraded to 2.1.1 while I was at it) and got back the functionality to create pages. I also reverted the Unsleepable theme back from 2.0 to 1.7 until the bugs are worked out of it. So far everything looks good and appears to be working! Drop me a line if you come across any errors or problems!

I love Wordpress, but it’s a pain in my ass at the moment. When I upgraded to 2.1, I lost all my pages. They’re still showing up in my database, but they show up as posts (instead of static pages) and don’t show up at all in my Wordpress dashboard. Also, I lost the ability to create a new page after upgrading.

AIGA Chicago: Clear Space

I recently joined the AIGA. Tonight I’ll be attending my first AIGA event - Clear Space I @ Seven Ten Lounge. I really suck at networking, and I hope to improve that this year. This is my first step in that direction. In my experience, a large chunk of opportunities come from who you know, not what you know.

So, in the off chance that a fellow Chicago AIGA member is reading this, drop me a line here so I can say hello tonight.

Because I suck at blogging, here are links to some good stuff around the interwebosphere.

MINI Motorby Billboards

Cool idea by MINI…

minimotorby.jpg

MINI of BMW is using advanced technology to communicate directly with drivers through talking billboards called MINI Motorby. Instead of seeing billboards with the same mind-numbing casino ad, these boards feature a changing array of unique, personal and unexpected messages which are triggered by the MINI owner utilizing Radio Frequency Identification Technology (RFID)—the same kind used in passports and credit cards. The billboards generate customized content to owners carrying active RFID tags in real-time, using information provided by the owners. Messages will be spelled out in lights on billboards in New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Miami locations.

Eerie Photos From Chernobyl

Pripyat, Ukraine - the site of the Chernobyl disaster in 1986 - is a decayed, ghost-city. I came across some great, eerie photos of present-day Chernobyl.

Nozbe - Getting Things Done on the Web

Nozbe

Nozbe is a web-based GTD system that looks very promising. I’ve tried various web apps, Tiddlywiki layouts, and other web-based & non web-based methods for GTD but have never been 100% satisfied yet. Nozbe seems to pull together all the aspects of GTD nicely. It includes contexts, project views, next actions, someday/maybe items, time tracking and more.

Nozbe is still in early beta testing and I’ve only gotten to play around with it for a short time so far, but from what I’ve seen, it looks great! It’s free to sign up and use, so go check it out for yourself and see what you think.
